The 114/500 telescope has a large amount of light gathering power, but is still very easy to handle. The relatively long focal length (f /4.4) allows you to see a good amount of detail on the Moon, the planet Mars and on Jupiter and the Saturn's rings. But this reflector can also take you beyond the Solar system - to observe the brighter galaxies, nebulae and star clusters. The package contains everything you need to get started. So you can just unpack it and get started observing right away!
The StarBlast auto-tracker compensates for the perceived rotation of the celestial sphere. In this way, an object once set in the telescope's or camera's field of view remains visible without you having to constantly correct by hand. You can concentrate on observing, and leave the rest to the built-in tracking motors.
The StarBlast auto-tracker first has to be aligned at the beginning of each observing session. But this procedure is quite straightforward: align the mount horizontally - the built-in button spirit level means this is no problem - and set the latitude of your observing site. Now you have to align the mount to the north - which is quite simple via the attached compass or by using the Pole Star. You can now turn on the StarBlast auto-tracker and tracking will start automatically. You can even quickly manually move the telescope or camera to an object without losing alignment - the mount uses servomotors equipped with encoders.
You can also attach a Canon SLR camera to allow you to take panoramas and time-lapse shots. It is even possible to take snapshots from preselected positions during the movement of the auto-tracker. A trigger cable to connect your Canon DSLR to the auto-tracker electronics is also included. And, finally, it is also possible to attach a smartphone to the auto-tracker thanks to the included bracket.
