Alter MN56 (F/6)
The Alter 56 f6 Maksutov-Newtonian from Intes Micro. The OTA comes with 2" Russian Crayford focuser as standard (other focusers are available on request) with a 1.25" adapter. This smallest model comes with an aperture illumination that has been somewhat optimized for photo-visual purposes.
In brightness and contrast sharpness, the smallest Maksutov-Newtonian is about equivalent to a very good 4" apochromat. With its 762mm focal length and the use of a wide-angle 2" eyepiece, it gives a field of view of approximately 3.6° - sufficient for the most extended deep sky objects, including comets.
The telescope has proved to be an exceptionally good CCD platform.
